You guys had such excellent comments to the question of what era you like best. Being a 40’s/50’s lover myself, I was surprised to see so many of you love the teens, 20’s and 30’s. I have a hunch that Downton Abbey is helping to open up a wider audience (commercially) to fashion just like Mad Men did with the 50’s/60’s. I’m hoping that you guys are going to be incorporating more of these styles into every-day outfits, even if it’s only ‘inspired’. I’ve already seen a few blouses that remind me of Lady Mary’s romantically draped blouses from season 2.
I have lots of stuff to blog about this week! Can’t wait to catch you all up to all of the happenings. :)
But for today, I’m happy to announce the winner of the April Giveaway’s had the lucky numbers of 6 & 8. I thought it was strange how close the numbers were to each other… but I did use the random number generator.
The first winner is Maria who said:
I love the late 50s when the dresses were so feminine and flattering. Clothes were beautifully detailed and so interesting, yet looked effortless. Style was ultra elegant and chic.
And the second winner is Valerie of Beyond the Curtain who responded with:
As for my favorite era in fashion, I’ve got to say I love the nineteen-teens for its softly tailored styles and details, but I actually tend to sew late 1950s-early 1960s clothes because they suit my shape and don’t stand out as too costume-y nowadays (at least I don’t think so!). One reason I love sewing is that I can pick and choose elements from any era for my clothing.
Congrats Maria & Valerie! I’ll be emailing you shortly to get your shipping info and all that jazz. I hope you love your new Charles James inspiration booklets. :)
