Feeling Like a Challenge

Hey guys! Just a short post today…

I hate to admit it, but after nearing completion on my Sun-Ray Ribbed Jumper, I’m just not liking it.  Even though I am 100% on gauge with the pattern using even the same exact yarn that “they” used, I just don’t like it.  The ribbing doesn’t have that *sproing* that I think it needs to look attractive & feel attractive on.

I will finish it… but in the meantime my mind has wandered off again.

I feel like starting a fresh new, knitting pattern and feel like a challenge.

Enter the Floral Jumper Pattern:

I’ve always swooned over this knitting pattern, but I just never felt up to the challenge of all this color work.  But for some reason I’m feeling pumped and ready to take on a new challenge.

I have navy, and a creamy white in my stash, but I still need to find that perfect pink color.  After drooling over this knitting pattern image for far too long, I feel need to recreate it in the same color scheme as the original.  It could be nice with a yellow or a blue… but for some reason I need it in pink.  :)

Wish me luck as I start with my very first intarsia-knit project!

That is way cute. I would love to hear about you learning intarsia – I think that’s the next big goal for me, knitting-wise.

Ooh, good luck! That should certainly keep you busy for a while, hehe. I know what you mean about the sun ray ribbing jumper. I made that one too and though I finished it, I still feel very “meh” about it. I might frog it eventually unless I can find a new outfit to wear it with next winter- the narrowing effect of the rays at the top just emphasised my overall pear shape so I’ve found it hard to wear.

I fell in love with this pattern when you first posted it and have even downloaded it myself. I am definitely not skilled enough to even think about tackling it, but I can’t wait to see it made up by you!!! I think I need to take some more knitting lessons, as I’m still held back by fear, because when I make mistakes I don’t really know how to fix them!

That is quite a fantastic design, so sunny. I definitely wish you luck….I never mastered intarsia, I don’t have the patience.

This is a beautiful jumper, will watch its progress with interest. Colour work is the next thing for me to tackle knitting wise.

Best of luck don’t worry colourwork/intarsia isn’t nearly as hard as some people think – can’t wait to see the finished article

  8. Now that’s the kind of pattern that could make me want to take up knitting. SO lovely! I look foward to seeing how it turns out!

I’d love to see the finished Sun-Ray Ribbed jumper on you! Or the finished product. What don’t you like about it? It’s on my to do list…

That’s a beautiful jumper. I hope you find the right shade of pink. I’ve been trying to find the perfect shade of green for the ‘Starring Stripes’ jumper, with no luck. I want to stay with the original colours but finding that green is proving impossible :(
