Hey guys, how was your weekend?
Mine was a lot busier than I had planned, but in a good way.
I spent all day Saturday helping a couple (Ben & Allison) paint their new house (inside). It’s been at least 2 year since I’ve done any interior painting, and it was actually quite nice to do it again after so long.
Getting rid of the gold…
We didn’t get as much done as we hoped (only one room) but it was the largest of the bed rooms and we had tons of trim to work around. I was really nice to help someone else out for the day, instead of focusing just on my own projects. I felt pretty tired after the 7 hours of painting, but more fulfilled than I knew I would have been if I had stayed home and just did my own stuff.
Then come Sunday we went to my nephew, Sebastian’s first birthday. I swear he grows at least 4 more inches every time I see him. He was even starting to take his first few steps for all of us today.
The best part of the day was watching him with his first cake. The look of amazement at everyone singing to him, then watching him slowly realize that the cake was sweet and yummy was too cute. And he eventually stuck his whole face in it.
This is my sister, Patricia, with her youngest, Sebastian.
As far as the Briar Rose Jumper goes, I’m sooo close. I blocked the jumper Sunday morning, and was really hoping that it would be dry enough for me to sew up on Sunday evening when I got back from the birthday party, but it was still too damp. I couldn’t wait to show you guys it though so here’s a preview of it being blocked and the (soon to be gathered) sleeve.
I do like the white collar, but it has much more of a *pop* than I expected. I’m thinking that it will come together more when I sew on the pocket and attach the sleeves.
Hope you guys also had a nice weekend.

That’s going to be great! The weather has been so crummy the last week I’m not surprised it wasn’t dry. I hand washed and tried to air dry an old crocheted blanket that I needed to wash, and it took so long to dry last week that it got mildewy before it dried. I had to wash it in the washer and dryer anyway! Argh.
Thanks Tasha! My little sleeve was dry by the morning, but the body portion still wasn’t dry. So I ended up throwing my blocking board (and jumper) on my bed with the fan turned on high, directly above. So I’m really hoping to come home to a dry Briar Rose.
I hate that mildew smell, too. But I guess it’s good that you were able to get the smell out at least with the washer and drier. Hope it didn’t do any damage to your blanket.
