Today’s free knitting pattern comes from the Knit It Yourself booklet I snagged from an antique mall while I was in Florida.

I think one of the best things about this shrug is the directions! Seriously, there’s only 5 steps to this pattern and NO gauge measurements!
Well, the ‘no gauge measurements’ can be both good and bad, depending on what type of knitter you are. But this has to be a great pattern for a newbie, since it’s kinda one size fits most and there’s a minimal amount of steps required.
The yarn that is listed with the pattern is American Thread Company, Orlon Pompadour which is a heavy fingering weight yarn that has a gauge of 7-8 stitches per inch. A light sport-weight yarn would probably work fine also.
You know what’s better than me talking about the pattern?! If you’re a member of Ravelry, there’s a small handful of people who’ve actually made this shrug pattern already! You can read all about their yarn selection and see how pretty their versions turned out!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Oh, and if you haven’t checked out Gertie’s site recently, be sure to! She has posted up an interview with Fashion Sewing Supply which sells high quality interfacing which is 10% off for a limited time with the special Gertie sales code. And yes, you bet I bought some! I am sick of using low quality weft that just peels right off my fabric. And what’s even cooler is that you can use Fashion Sewing Supply’s light weight weft to use as stay tape around necklines and the like. Okay, I’ll stop gushing since I don’t have my hands on the goods yet. I’ll let you know how I fair once my package arrives though. :)
