October Giveaway

While I’m a newbie at Twitter, some of you may have already started following me and had seen that I finally reached 200 RSS followers.  I’ve been lurking around 196 for a really long time and I was stoked to finally reach 200 which was my personal goal in order to host another giveaway.

Random Aside: While my husband doesn’t think using RSS readers is a good measure for how many followers/readers I have on my site, I found it’s just an easy tool use as a measure.

Not that I really need a reason to host a giveaway for you guys, I’m just excited I hit the 200 mark and wanted to share the love since I feel loved.  :)

So…  Since I have not 100 but 200 official RSS subscribers, I’m offering 2 gems in my collection for you to win.

Vintage Burgundy-Pink Wool Mohair Fabric:

The color is hard to describe since in some light it looks darker and in other lighting it looks bright.  I’m calling it a burgundy-fushia-purple.  heh

This is 2 yards, 60″ wide mohair.  It’s not one of those crazy-fuzzy mohair fabrics, but is lovely and drapey; it would be perfect as a cropped jacket or even a pencil skirt with lining.  I’ve had it in my stash for too long and it needs to go to a happy home where it will be made into something beautiful (instead of hanging around my closet waiting for me.)

1950’s Cotton Striped Skirt:

Isn’t this skirt the bees knees?!  I bought this skirt off of etsy, and while the waist fits perfectly, being as short as I am the skirt simply overwhelmed my frame.  So it’s off to a better home with you guys.

This skirt fits a 29-30″ waist and is 27.5″ long from the top of the waist to the hem.  It features 1.5″ charcoal buttons (HUGE!) with ticking stripes of grey, green, mustard, and red.

The fabric is very thick, a VERY heavy twill, and needs no crinoline to get the 50’s fullness.  I think it’s a perfect spring/fall skirt and could even go through the winter with some tights.

The only downside to the skirt: Being vintage the waistband feels a bit crispy when buttoning it up, but once it’s on I haven’t even noticed it.

The best part: It’s also machine washable… ask me how I know?!  So it’s all nice and clean (and durability tested) for the new owner.

Giveaway Details:

Everyone gets 1 entry, but since there are two prizes I’m giving away…  The first randomly selected winner will get first choice between the two items.  The second randomly selected person will get the second item.  Sound fair?

To enter please leave a comment letting me know:

  1. What level of seamstress/knitter you are
  2. What you’re most interested in learning more about.  If you can’t think of anything new you want to learn, feel free to share your Fall/Winter sewing plans instead.

Good luck everyone! I’ll be announcing the winner in one week’s time, on Monday, October 15th.

Last but not least, this giveaway is open to anyone, no matter where you live; I’m happy to ship anywhere for you guys.
